Shopify App Data and Privacy Considerations
Privacy is of the utmost importance at Kutoku. Our Shopify app requests access to the minimum data it needs to function. In this article we'll detail exactly the data Kutoku needs access to and why Shopify considers that data as Protected Customer Data.
When you install our Shopify app you will see the following confirmation screen defining exactly what data our app requests access to.
View personal data - Customers
Shopify's app review process requires that our app is approved by Shopify to access Protected Customer Data. This includes 60 days of orders (i.e. data created by a customer). As part of that approval process we explicitly declined access to a customer's name, email, phone number and address, because we do not want or need access to this information.

View Customers / Browsing Behaviour
We ask Shopify to allow our app to send us notifications when certain actions occur on your site. When a customer completes a checkout we receive some order data. This data contains the order's line items, the currency and amount etc. It does not contain the customer's name, address, email etc.
Edit Orders / All order details for the last 60 days
We add a kutoku tag to each referred order so you can easily track them in your Shopify admin. For this we need to be able to edit orders. We specifically requested limited order access of 60 days.
Edit Store Analytics / Pixels
As mentioned earlier, Shopify sends us data when customer take certain actions like checking out. This permission allows us to install the code that sends that event data.
View Your Online Store / Theme
To install the code snippet that tracks clicks to your site we need to be able to edit your theme.
